Letter from Our Executive Director – July

It’s July, and the air here in Vermont is truly buzzing with innovation and fresh opportunities! This month, I’m excited to share some big updates, from new training programs designed to boost your expertise to inspiring highlights of our members’ fantastic projects. You’ll also see some exciting media recognition for the great work happening right here in our community.

Elevate Your Skills with Our New Training Programs

We’re really passionate about helping you and your teams stay ahead in high-performance building. That’s why we’re launching some essential new training classes this fall. These aren’t just about technical skills; they also focus on effective crew leadership, which we know is vital for a strong, engaged workforce.

Our Basics of High Performance Building course will dive into fundamental principles, showing you how to create energy-efficient, comfortable, and long-lasting structures.

If you’re looking to build stronger teams and foster a more positive work environment, my CREW LEADERSHIP CLASSES: Mentoring Skills to Develop and Retain Your Workforce offers practical strategies straight from my own experience.

And, by popular demand, we’re bringing back our Water, Air, and Thermal Continuous Control Layers course. This hands-on session covers both the theory and practical installation of continuous control layers for vertical walls, including drainage planes, air barriers, and exterior insulation, especially how they integrate with window penetrations.

These valuable two-part sessions are scheduled at convenient locations across Vermont throughout the fall.

Don’t Miss Our Early Bird Special!

To help you jump on these opportunities, we’re offering an exclusive Early Bird Special: Sign up before August 1st and receive $50 off your registration! It’s a fantastic chance to invest in yourself and your team. You’ll find all the specific dates, times, locations, and sign-up links in the newsletter below.

A Warm Welcome to Geoff Wilcox!

I’m also delighted to welcome SEON’s newest member, Geoff Wilcox, Director of the Vermont Weatherization Assistance Program via the Office of Economic Opportunity! I recently attended the ribbon-cutting for the new Weatherization Center in Barre and was incredibly impressed by their work. Vermont is truly making strides!
