SEON’s Registered Apprenticeship Program for Carpenters/High Performance Builders
SEON is thrilled to announce the development of a Registered Apprenticeship Program for Carpenters and High Performance Builders! We’re working hard to create a comprehensive and valuable program that will train the next generation of skilled craftspeople in Vermont.
This 3-year program, slated for submission to the Vermont Department of Labor in January 2026, will provide apprentices with a unique blend of classroom and hands-on learning. After an initial 3-month intensive carpentry training period at the proposed Bellows Falls Union High School’s wood shop, apprentices will earn a salary while working for a participating company.
Program Highlights:
- Comprehensive Curriculum: The official apprenticeship standards will include over 400 hours of Related Instruction (25% classroom-based, 75% hands-on building projects, including a tiny house!) and over 6000 hours of Work Processes, providing experience in all aspects of carpentry and high-performance building.
- Advanced Standing: Graduates of the 2-year Building Trades programs at Vermont’s career and technology centers will receive advanced standing in the apprenticeship learning cycle.
- Expert Mentorship: A key component of the program is the guidance and training provided by experienced crew leaders (or recognized journey persons), leveraging the communication skills developed through SEON’s leadership training.
We believe this program will provide a fantastic opportunity for individuals to launch a successful career in the building trades. Stay tuned for updates as the program develops!
