Peter Yost, Principal and Vice President of Technical Services at BuildingGreen and SEON Board Member, was the recipient of the National Association of Home Builders’ (NAHB) 2014 Educator of the Year award at the 2015 International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas on January 19, 2015.
NAHB honored four individuals (covering 4 categories) who had excelled in teaching NAHB education courses to builders, remodelers, and other industry professionals through its annual Educator of the Year awards. “The Educator of the Year honorees are being recognized for their dedication and longstanding commitment to elevating the home building industry through education,” said NAHB Education Chair Vince Butler. “By sharing their expertise and serving as mentors, they give builders, remodelers and others the knowledge to better serve the needs of their clients, delivering the latest information and training available.”
“NAHB’s Educators of the Year do more than teach the course material,” Butler said. “They inspire students by incorporating their personal experiences into their teaching and provide students with new tools to be successful. They motivate students to reach the next stage of their careers by encouraging them to earn a NAHB designation, and they act as a resource students can turn to for advice in the future.”
Locally, Peter is well known for his consulting, writing, and research capabilities, his facilitating SEON’s Building Science Guild’s Advanced Learning Circle, developing and training “Advancing Green Building and Building Science: the Keys to Managing Moisture” and “Zero Energy Remodeler”, teaching at Yale, and developing a hybrid online/direct contact course for high school science, stem, and career center students on “How a House Works.”
Congratulations Peter. Very well deserved. You have increased the knowledge and skills of many of us in the profession.
